Manchester Contemporary Youth Opera provides an space for artists to collaborate and produce opera for performers, instrumentalists and singers aged 18-25.


With two interweaving elements, writing and performance, the summer course is a foundry for turning creative ideas into operatic performance.


The ethos of MCYO is the building of a collaborative company to create and perform art, with facilitators on hand to guide the process and offer assistance when needed. The company will be made up of singers and instrumentalists as equal performers on stage and 


The whole process will be overseen by the artistic directors Nina Whiteman and Richard Strivens with guest artists mentoring on specific areas of the process both before and during the course.
