This course offers you the opportunity to spend extended time on stage technique and use of physical theatre within the context of opera written specifically for young trained voices (18-24).

You will be mentored throughout the process by Richard Strivens, with additional support during the course from professional opera singers and a movement director.

July 22 Receive scores to learn and memorise

August   Mentoring with Richard Strivens, coaching sessions in Manchester and Oxford available.

 

Aug 27  Course Week 1 - Creating a Company - inhabiting the stage and the music

 

Sept  2 Course Week 2 - Rehearsal and performance week

Sept  5 Filming day

 

Sept  6  Performance day

 

In addition to preparing the operas, you are requested to bring two pieces to experiment with interpretively and dramatically during the course (details in the brochure).

The operas will be filmed and available for you use.

​

The cost of the 2019 course will be £290. Fees are heavily subsidised thanks to the generosity of our sponsors. (The actual cost to MCYO per participant is in the region of £1000.)
